Hakuna Studio was established in 1975, initially specialising in designing and making piercing jewellery, which was almost non-existent at the time in Japan. Their first two collections were inspired by the ever-changing landscape in Tokyo. Hakuna’s designs have kept pace with the fast changing image of young women in Japan. Made with hand-selected freshwater pearls, gemstones and precious metals, Hakuna speaks for a new generation of women, who are intelligent, confident and independent. Hakuna are the first Japanese company to be certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council, an international non-profit organisation that ensures jewellery businesses are upholding high standards of social and environmental responsibility.
