5 tips for choosing the right wedding accessories from Lily Luna

Published by Di Walker on 26th Sep 2016

Do you know that some other brides may have also said ‘Yes’ to the same beautiful dress that you have picked for your wedding, so how to individualise your look to make the dress‘uniquely yours’?

Check out the advice and tips from the senior stylists at Lily Luna boutique and find out how to use the right accessories to individualise your look and optimise your fashion taste.

1. Before making the choice for your wedding accessories

Much like dresses, jewellery and headpieces can look so different once they’re actually being worn. So be creative and brave with your choices and keep your mind open to all possibilities especially if you haven’t made up your mind. Look plenty online and try plenty on in store always helps to discover your own style. Don’t be afraid of having too much or looking different to what you initially had in mind. If you love how the pieces look on you and they reflect your personal style and personality, you won’t go far wrong. Why not try some bigger and more statement pieces such as chandelier earrings or diamante side headbands as well as the subtle ones until you find the perfect balance.

* Heavy beaded and hand embroidered headpiece with diamante trims and crystal droplets, a Perfect match to an intricate and heavy beaded dress.

2. Go big or small?

We understand that ‘minimal and understated’ is fashionable and probably is a safer bet but sometimes we feel that it’s just not quite enough to speak for your personality. Remember, as well as being able to see the accessories very close-up, you would also want them to be seen from distance especially in your wedding photos.

*Choose something versatile to give yourself more styling options on the day such as a soft rose gold hair vine which could be positioned either on the side or at the back.

3. Gold or Silver?

Although silver still is brides’ favourite choice of colour, rose gold and light gold have also become very popular in the last couple of years and are making a bigger and bigger presence on the T-stage. Don’t feel that you have to stick the rules. Having an ivory dress doesn’t mean that you have to choose silver /ivory colour jewellery. In fact ‘Gold and silver /ivory together, done wisely, can look amazing and stylish’

* Multiple-tonal and mix-media hair accessories are a big thing at the moment.

4. Timing

It’s wise to pick your accessories after you have chosen your dress. But don’t leave choosing your accessories until the last minute as it’s not just about having accessories in time for your wedding but for hair trials and dress fittings too.

5.Bespoke

Everyone these days knows to utilise online fashion sites or phone apps for style inspirations. Great Idea! However, it’s not very likely that you will find the exact design from your local suppliers unless they’re the official stockist. There are several reasons for that. First of all, design rights. No creative designers want to copy other peoples’ work, nor do they want to be copied by other people.

Secondly, many of the designs you found on Etsy or Pinterest are from the shops or designers in the U.S. After all that’s where it’s all started! So what should you do if you have fallen in love with a design you saw online? It’s simple. Search your local wedding accessories shops or designers and show them the photos. Again, they probably don’t have the exact design, but they may have done something very similar in style. Why don’t you try what they have first and see if it’s what you had expected? A professional designer or specialist would listen to your request and be able to customise their original design to make the way you wanted.
